Tiberius by catandcrown Tiberius by catandcrown
:iconend-run--pokemon-oct:

This is Tiberius, Mort’s Dratini.

He’s a grouchy, hissing bastard with a very short temper. But he retains a proud nature due to his heritage. Intelligent and incredibly elegant, he’s a dangerous Pokémon.

ive always wondered where Dragonite sprouts its limbs from, so, like many interpretations of dratini in realism, I’ve given him little stubby fins, which can be used at water for basic fin purposes, and on land to raise himself higher on them like stands/legs etc.

it also makes more sense that he can tuck them in flat to slither like a snake when moving.
i imagine Dratini to be both land and sea creatures, particularly as dragonair and Dragonite are both. so i imagine them to travel across land in the similar manner to a snake, seeing as they have the ability to wrap etc. in war, i imaging him to be an ambush creature when needed to flush out enemy Pokémon, paralyzing them with thunder wave and then quickly constricting them as Mort picks off the trainer himself.

However, in open combat, i imagine him to stick very close to Mort, whipping up twisters and various long range attacks as mort uses his Rifle, Margery. (imagine voldemort with nagini to a certain extent)

All up for debate, but still, pretty pleased with this :)

a proper description will come when it can, but i wanted to post this so people knew that i AM actually entering XD

I love your art and backroud stories, as well as pokedex entries. I would really love to see your interpretation of my dream pokemon to which I have not given a name to. It always confused my as to why Dragonair evolved into Dragonite, or as to why there was not an alternate form. I Always imagine dragonair's wings to become more prominent and take on a more chinese dragon-like appearance. I would really like you to draw something like this. In my head, since this pokemon would look much more majestic and elegant, its physical attack and defense would go slightly down (more so its defense, as it still has huge vicious jaws to bite and claws and a tail), however its special attack and defense would go drastically up, other stats being most like unaffected. Perhaps this is a very rare sort of evolution that only takes place while dragonair is very happy, or holding a an item such as dragon's fang, or even a level gain in a specific location such as the dragon's den; perhaps even all three of these things are required. I think youre an extremely talented artist and have great vision, and would really love to see my imagination come to life. Since even my stick figures look decrepit and "special," I cannot draw them myself. Would love to hear your feedback on this!

As I was thinking of this alternate evolution of Dragonair, it got me thinking about Dragonite's sister pokemon, Salemence. I thought it also had an interresting evolutionary tree, as with its first evolution, Bagon gains a body covered in armor. I thought it would be interresting to imagine an alternate evolution in which, as it evolves, Shelgon embraces his armor as opposed to shunning it off. The resulting alternate evolution would certainly have a significantly lower speed, but absolutely a higher defense and special defense, as well as a higher HP value.

These are the only two that seem to have obvious alternate evolutions. However I have a few other ideas that might spark your imagination. I always thought that, by the time they have introduced Glacion and Leafion, they should have introduced an flying-pokemon counterpart to evee, that mutated similarly. The original fossil pokemon have lost some of their mystique, given that there as so many now, even some with the same type combo. They need evolutions. Aerodactyl was already considered a dragon, he should get an evolutionary form of one.

youve certainly got some interesting ideas going on with the chinese dragon feel to dragonair and the armour based salamence evo to be sure! i would have loved to help you out, but im afraid that ive barely got time for my own personal work, then commissions and then, if ever, ideas from others :(

I love everyone of your renditions of these Pokemon. It really gives them the "balls", for lack of better terms, that they desperately deserve. My favorite one has to be your Blastoise. Best one I've ever seen. Love the way you recreated the cannons on it's back to seem more like a natural body part rather than just a cannon strapped to it's back. Keep on, keeping on. Love every second of it.
